The MRC Pontiac (Pontiac Regional County) is located in the west of Québec's Outaouais region, 40 minutes from the city of Gatineau and 90 minutes from Ottawa's International Airport. It comprises 18 municipalities from Bristol to Rapides-des-Joachims and a vast non-organised territory which extends to the north of the region. Provincial highways 148 west, 301 and 303 north and south provide access to 17 of Pontiac's 18 municipalities. Rapides-des-Joachims (Swisha), the westernmost municipality in the county, is more easily accessible from Trans-Canada Hwy 17 in Ontario.

The County of Renfrew across the Ottawa river, is Pontiac County's closest Ontario neighbour.
