Public Consultations from the Quebec Government on July 10, 2017 aimed at limiting or restricting the rebuilding of residences within floodplains
Following the 2017 spring floodings, the Quebec Government is proposing a decree aimed at reducing the vulnerability of people and properties from future floodings. In this situation, the rebuilding of a residence within a floodplain will have limitations or be restricted.
The Quebec Government wants to hear from people and organisations wishing to express their views on the draft decree during public consultations to be held on Monday, July 10, 2017. In Outaouais, two consultations are scheduled:
Location: Spruceholme Inn
Address: 204 Principale Street, Fort Coulonge (QC) J0X 1V0
Time: 3:00 PM
Location: Gatineau Convention Centre (Palais des Congrès de Gatineau)
Address: 50 Maisonneuve Boulevard, 3rd Floor, Gatineau (QC) J8X 4H4
Time: 7:30 PM
The following Pontiac municipalities are affected by the draft decree:
Allumettes Island, Bristol, Bryson, Campbell’s Bay, Chichester, Clarendon, Fort Coulonge, Calumet Island, Litchfield, Mansfield-et-Pontefract, and Waltham. The municipalities of La Pêche and Pontiac in the MRC Collines-des-Outaouais are also affected.
The Quebec Government also intends demanding the production of floodplain maps for the municipality of Otter Lake, since it was flooded in spring 2017 and does not have any mapping to that effect.
