Highlights of Council decisions
Regular meeting held on February 20, 2019 at 6:30 pm
Following the call for applications made by the MRC Pontiac between November 2018 and January 4, 2019 to ensure the replacement of the retiring Mrs. Nancy Dagenais as Clerk of the MRC Pontiac, the MRC Pontiac’s Council passes a resolution to hire Mr. Travis Ladouceur as Clerk of the MRC Pontiac. He is scheduled to start on April 1rst, 2019.
Motion of Support
The MRC Pontiac’s Council passes a resolution supporting the MRC of Vaudreuil-Soulanges in its request to the Quebec government and the MAMH, to consider the importance of the MRCs in the context of the preparation and conclusion of the next partnership agreement with municipalities, including ensuring adequate funding consistent with the responsibilities and competencies entrusted to them.
Demand for Official SWAT Committee Meeting
Given that there has been no recent news or follow-up on the SWAT team of the Ministère de l’Économie et de l’innovation, the MRC Council mandates Warden Jane Toller to write a letter to Member of Parliament André Fortin asking for a formal gathering of the SWAT Committee and also that a schedule be set for future meetings.
Given that the TNO received a grant of $ 16,500 to implement a contingency plan for the territory including the purchase of off-road vehicles, the MRC’s Regional Council authorized the purchase of an ATV and a boat / trailer / engine set.
The council of the MRC Pontiac extend by two years the agreement of delegation of the land management and management of the exploitation of the sand and the gravel operations on lands in the domain of the State that was signed with the MERN and the MAMH.
Major Events Fund
The Regional Council adopts that the MRC Pontiac contribute $3,750 to the 2019 edition of the Fort-Coulonge-Mansfield Country Festival. The resolution stems from the Department of Economic Development’s recommendation, that the Festival is a regional event and that the Festival meets the criteria of the Major Events Policy.
Donations and sponsorships
- A sponsorship of $500 is given to École Secondaire Sieur-de-Coulonge for its cross-country skiing expedition of the Skiing at School program. The expedition will last 3 days, from February 24th to the 27th, 2019, over a distance of 180 kilometers.
- The Canadian Ski Marathon is granted a 500$ sponsorship to ensure the security of the cross-country skiing expedition of the Skiing at School program of École Secondaire Sieur-de-Coulonge from February 24th to the 27th, 2019.
