MRC Pontiac to launch a call for applicants for Fire Prevention Technician position
The council of the MRC Pontiac authorized the launch of a call for candidates for the position of Fire Prevention Technician in the public security department of the MRC. The position was previously occupied by Jonathan Perreault. The position will be open to the public on the employment section of the MRC website on Thursday, January 23.
Approval of the development plan for Lac Baptiste
The Pontiac MRC Council authorized the development of eight (8) vacation lots at Lac Baptiste in the TNO. The land will be offered to residents as well as to interested persons from outside the Pontiac. The allocation of land will be done by draw in the fall of 2020.
Under the management agreement, the MRC has the power and the responsibility to make available new resort sites in the TNO of Lac-Nilgaut. The zoning laws of Lac Baptiste allows the construction of vacation chalets as well as hunting and fishing camps.
Régant Dugas, Director of Territory for the MRC Pontiac, invites those interested to consult the MRC website during the summer of 2020 to obtain details on this draw.
Members appointed to Agricultural Advisory Committee
The Pontiac MRC Council accepted the following nominations to the Agricultural Advisory Committee (AAC): Bob Griffin, Rita Payne, David Gillespie, Brent Orr, Brian Drummond and Ana McBride. The function of the AAC is to study, at the request of the MRC council or on its own initiative, any questions relating to the development of agricultural land, the practice of agricultural activities and the environmental aspects associated with this development or practice.
The AAC members sit for a period of two years (2020-2021).
The Pontiac MRC files the PPJ maintenance report for 2018-2019
The MRC Council adopts the annual activity report and maintenance expenses for the PPJ Cyclopark totaling at $236,204.50 for 2018-2019, as required by the maintenance program of the Route Verte by the ministère des Transports. The ministry reimburses 50% of the maintenance and improvement costs for the Route Verte to the MRC.
The MRC Pontiac will file a request with the ministère des Transports for an extension of the amounts to which it was entitled, but were not put to use given the late announcement of the revival of the maintenance program of the Route Verte in the spring of 2019. The MRC wishes to transfer this sum of $53,409.00 to the maintenance budget for 2020-2021.

The MRC Pontiac expressed its full support for the Festi-Pont celebration in summer of 2021
Given the importance of the Félix Gabriel-Marchand bridge for both heritage and tourism, the Council of Mayors gave its full support to the Phare-Ouest organization for the organization of the Festi-Pont festival which will take place in the summer of 2021. The Council of Mayors also asked administration to see to the possibility of contributing financially to the organization of the festival.
MRC Pontiac to ask the Department of Municipal Affairs and Housing to consider requests for revision of the SPZ
Certain residences damaged by the spring floods of 2019 are not included in the current version of the map defining the special planning zone (SPZ), which has great repercussions on the compensation options available to affected citizens.
Therefore, Council has moved to ask the Department of Municipal Affairs and Housing to take into consideration requests for revision to the SPZ when relevant and well-documented information to this effect is communicated to them.
