Highlights of Council decisions
Regular meeting held on May 15, 2019 at 6:30 pm
Concerted Political Support
The MRC Council invite Mr. André Fortin, MNA for Pontiac, and Will Amos, MP for Pontiac, to participate in discussing the strategies to effectively address the 2017 and 2019 floods as well as possible future floods.
Of the same token, the Council request to organize a meeting concerting political leaders from Québec and Ontario, namely the Wardens from the Outaouais region and the Mayor of Gatineau in addition to the Warden of Renfrew County and the Mayor of Ottawa.
Request for MSP Local Office, Meetings and Services also in English
The MRC Pontiac Regional Council request that the Ministère de la Sécurité publique (MSP) establish a temporary office in the Pontiac to facilitate the access to MSP services by residents affected by the floods.
It is also requested that additional meetings be organized in the Pontiac by the MSP and that meetings and available documentation be also offered in English.
Support of Mansfield-et-Pontefract’s Resolution
The Regional Council supports Resolution 93-05-2019 adopted by the Council of the municipality of Mansfield-et-Pontefract, entitled ”Demande d’enquête sur la régularisation des rivières et la gestion des barrages en Outaouais.”
Collection of Residual Materials
The Council ask that the MRC assess the possibility of coordinating a collection of residual materials for municipalities and residents affected by the spring floods. Once the information has been obtained, the MRC will contact the municipalities to advise them of the options available to them.
Since January 2018, the MRCs and Municipalities must adopt a Bylaw on contract management where the method for the adjudication of contracts may be established for contracts involving an expenditure of more than 25 000 $ and less than the threshold requiring a public call for tender (actually 101 100 $).
The MRC will therefore adopt a new Bylaw, which will increase autonomy and power (Loi 122) while providing sound and rigorous management.
