Renovation Assistance Program for historic homes in Pontiac

This program, initiated by the MRC Pontiac - the Ministry of Culture, Communications and Status of Women and the Pontiac CLD, offers owners of historic homes the services of an architect specialized in heritage buildings to advise them on exterior renovations. 1

This assistance program will help ensure the quality of renovations, preserve the heritage features of the buildings and improve the level of comfort in the homes as well as helping preserve architectural heritage in the Pontiac and increase tourists’ interest in the entire region of the MRC.

 

Steps:

  • File submitted to the CLD Pontiac;
  • The file is sent to the architect;
  • Telephone meeting between the architect and the owner;
  • Completion of two sketches and a work list according to the homeowner’s wishes;
  • Sketches and work list sent to homeowner;
  • Review of the feedback from the owner.

Terms:

Your application must be filed with the Pontiac CLD. The file must include:

 

  • The duly completed application form;
  • Color photographs of the house and, if possible, old photographs;
  • A preliminary list of proposed renovations;

  • A contribution of $ 50 (total cost of service = $ 700) will be applied to eligible homeowners. 2

This program is open only to owners of heritage homes. Those included in the Pontiac Heritage Buildings Inventory will be prioritized. Contact the CLD to ensure that your house is eligible for this program.

MRC Pontiac Culture, Communications and Heritage Fund

The Culture, Communications and Heritage Fund is part of the cultural agreement between the Pontiac MRC, the Ministry of Culture, Communications and the Status of Women and the CLD. Its objective is to support community projects that:

  • increase the number of cultural activities and events;
  • improve the communication and promotion of cultural activities and events;
  • participate in the animation and revitalization of cummunities;
  • highlights local culture and heritage.

Are you planning a cultural project? Do you need to promote your event? You have until May 5th to apply and qualify for funding from the Culture, Communications and Heritage Fund of the MRC Pontiac. Fund criteria and application form are available below:

Pontiac Art and Artists Outreach Support Program

The objective of the Pontiac Art and Artists Outreach Support Program is to consolidate artistic organizations, help artists secure professional status and facilitate public access to works of art on display in the Outaouais.

The budget for this fund is $7,000.

Funding applications must demonstrate that the project meets at least one of the following objectives:

  • Promote professional artist development, to further professionalization and artistic succession;
  • Support cultural activities showcasing crafts and visual arts to a broad audience;
  • Support in hosting artists making occasional visits to the Pontiac;
  • Assistance to Pontiac artists for recognition in the Outaouais or elsewhere.
