Campbell’s Bay, August 14, 2020 – Launch of Call for projects in the Pontiac for the Support for Regional Outreach Program of the Fonds régions et ruralité (FRR)
The MRC Pontiac invites local organizations and stakeholders in the territory to participate in the new call for projects under Component 1 – Support for regional outreach of the Fonds régions et ruralité (FRR).
For the 2020-2021 fiscal year, an amount of $2 million is reserved as a priority for non-profit organizations (NGOs), cooperatives and social economy enterprises, with the exception of enterprises in the financial sector and economic development organizations. Projects from the education network will also be accepted.
Eligible organizations and businesses may apply for financial assistance under Component 1 of the FRR through the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MAMH) no later than September 11, 2020, by filling out the form available on the MAMH website. The department of economic development of the MRC Pontiac are available at any time to help with the application process. Contact Cyndy Phillips, Director of Economic Development (email@example.com) for more information.
To be eligible, projects must have a regional scope, i.e., they must have an impact on the territory of more than one MRC or an equivalent organization. Projects must also meet at least one of the priorities for the Outaouais region, which are also at the heart of the Government Strategy to Ensure the Occupation and Vitality of the Territories 2018-2022.
The five priorities for the Outaouais are as follows:
- Catching up with the region’s historical backlog in health and social services, education and economic development.
- Foster strong and sustainable community development based on solidarity and a strong link between rural and urban areas.
- Build a strong regional identity.
- Foster resilience to climate change by ensuring sustainable development.
- Develop the economy and improve the competitive position with respect to the border situation through innovation and diversification.
“I encourage organizations and stakeholders in the Pontiac to take advantage of this funding opportunity offered through Component 1 of the Regions and Rurality Fund. To continue our progress with the revitalization of the Pontiac, it is so important to put forward projects that will contribute to the growth and development of our region”, says Jane Toller, Warden of the MRC Pontiac.
Component 1 – Support for regional outreach of the FRR, which is administered by the MAMH, fosters regional mobilization and cooperation with a view to supporting the implementation of projects with regional spinoffs. The initiatives to be presented must respond to the specific characteristics of the Pontiac region and contribute to the occupation and vitality of the territory. They will be selected and prioritized by the regional project selection committee.
