On April 29, 2020, the Quebec government announced a plan to gradually reopen certain regions.
Starting from May 11, 2020, access will be allowed to the:
- Outaouais region, except for trips from Ottawa to Gatineau;
Police checkpoints between regions in the Outaouais and on bridges to Ontario in the MRC Pontiac (Portage-du-Fort, Bristol and Isle-aux-Allumettes) will be lifted on this date.
Despite these controls being lifted, all residents are asked to continue to avoid travelling from one MRC to another, except for essential reasons. Such travel should be confined to trips for medical reasons and work when teleworking is not possible. All gatherings are still forbidden and will continue to be monitored by the Sûreté du Québec, as reiterated by Premier François Legault.
Although the Pontiac has been very fortunate thus far with no positive cases, this has been the result of very hard work on behalf of our municipalities, our residents and the SQ.
The MRC Pontiac, the Regional Council of Mayors, and Warden Jane Toller would like to remind residents that we should still do everything we can to avoid travelling for non-essential reasons and we should continue to support our local businesses. We must continue to practice strong prevention measures, now more than ever.
