The Artist

Born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Stephan Scrak often visited Montréal before settling there in 1986 to open a Bed & Breakfast. While looking for a distraction from his daily routine, he rediscovered his love for the arts, especially painting. Perhaps unconsciously, Montréal architecture and bright colors led him to a unique style of painting. Originally designed to decorate the walls of the inn, his paintings attracted the attention of his visitors and customers. Their enthusiasm and encouragement led him to dream of a place where he could live and paint full time.

After a visit to the Pontiac, and meeting many artists who reside there, Stephan Scrak decided to settle in the region. He now lives and paints in Portage-du-Fort, on the banks of the Ottawa River.

Stephan Scrak died in 2015.
