Following the announcement of the end of Thom Transport’s bus service on the 148, the MRC Pontiac, the Municipality of Pontiac and Transcollines have partnered to ensure continuation of service in the region.
Starting in January 2017, Campeau Bus Lines is under contract to provide transportation from Allumette Island to Ottawa. A brand new bus equipped with sofa, wireless Internet and plasma screens will carry passengers to their destination in comfort, following the same schedule and fares set in 2016. During 2017, the partners will explore the possibility of increasing the number of bus trips available.
Currently, tickets may be purchased on board the bus. Beginning mid-January, bus users will also be able to buy tickets, good for a day, week or month, at the front desk of the MRC offices in Campbell’s Bay. For additional information, contact the Transcollines call centre at 1-866-310-1114.
The continued operation of the this interregional transportation service was made possible through the financial commitment of the MRC Pontiac ($29,500), the Municipality of Pontiac ($13,125) and the Green Fund of the Quebec Ministry of Transport ($127,875).
