Relaunch of the Société d’habitation du Québec (SHQ) RénoRégion program in the MRC Pontiac

Litchfield, August 23, 2022 – Relaunch of the Société d’habitation du Québec (SHQ) RénoRégion program in the MRC Pontiac

As part of its 2022 program, the Government of Quebec has set aside approximately $260,000 so that low- and moderate-income homeowners in the MRC Pontiac can have work done to correct major defects in their homes.

This financial assistance program from the Société d’habitation du Québec (SHQ) allows low- and moderate-income homeowners in rural areas to have work done to correct major defects in their homes.

“I encourage all residents who qualify for this funding to take advantage of the opportunity to renovate and improve their homes,” says Jane Toller, Warden of the MRC Pontiac.

Eligibility requirements

  1. You must be an owner-occupant of a dwelling located on the MRC Pontiac territory;
  2. This dwelling must be your principal residence;
  3. The building must have no more than two dwellings, including the one of the owner-occupant who is making the request;
  4. The residential portion of a mixed-use building, e.g., commercial on the first floor and residential on the second floor, is eligible if you meet the other conditions;
  5. Your residence must have one or more major deficiencies;
  6. Your annual household income must not exceed the maximum allowable income, which varies according to the size of the household and the region where you live;
  7. The maximum standardized value of the residence, excluding the value of the land, must not exceed $150,000;
  8. The residence must require at least $3,500 in work;
  9. You are not eligible for the program if you have benefited from the RénoVillage program in the 5 years preceding the application, or the Emergency Repair program in the last 5 years.

Assistance Available

  • A grant may range from 20% to 95% of the recognized cost of the eligible work, but may not exceed $20,000 or $25,000 depending on income; the grant is paid only when the work is completed;
