TNO forest tracking system and emergency procedure

In 2017, the MRC Pontiac carried out a first phase of deployment of a project facilitating localization in TNO forests.

Emergency landmark installed on TNO trails and roads.

This phase of the project aimed to establish, at strategic locations on the territory, assembly points that bring together stakeholders and users of the territory to facilitate rescue or evacuation procedures. The establishment of predefined meeting places, clearly identified and whose information is distributed and integrated into communications systems, will facilitate evacuation and rescue operations.

Each assembly point has an “Emergency Evacuation“ sign with location information. A database containing all information on the location of the points was created and transmitted for integration into the emergency responders’ systems. The project is expected to facilitate communications between users and emergency responders.
